_St. Louis, MO  - new in 2012!
For the first time in ten years, Loretto Volunteers is thrilled to recreate a volunteer community in St. Louis.  Home to vibrant justice and activist communities and a spunky set of Loretto Community members, St. Louis is a great city to be a volunteer.  Volunteers will live near the Loretto Center in Webster Groves - and will have a chance to get to know the elderly sisters who live

Our Loretto Volunteer house is located just outside the border of Washington, DC.  A neighborhood with a sense of community, Mount Rainier is a small town near the big city, and is home to a racially, culturally and economically diverse population of families.  Mount Rainier hosts a bicycle co-op and the region’s best food co-op, as well as New Ways Ministry, a Loretto Volunteer placement founded by Loretto sister, Jeannine Gramick SL.

_At Junia House, five volunteers share a four-bedroom house.  All volunteers take public transit to work, but they share a program car for groceries, retreats and local outings.  The house is located four blocks from the bus that takes volunteers downtown, and is just under a mile from the West Hyattsville metro station.

                        Mercy Volunteer House
Our United Nations volunteer is always the only Loretto Volunteer in New York City, so we partner with other local volunteer programs to provide a community living experience for him/her.  This year, our UN volunteer is living with Mercy Volunteers in Woodside, a vibrant, safe, residential neighborhood in Queens.  Historically an Irish American neighborhood, today it is home to a range of immigrant communities.  The house is convenient to the 7 subway line.

                        El Paso, TX
When a Loretto Volunteer works at our El Paso placement, she typically lives in community with Loretto sisters.
