Amy Stenson Celebrates Co-membership

On January 20, 2007, family, friends, Loretto members and volunteers, members of New Ways Ministry, the Bridge Community and Amy’s dogs, Benny and Emma, gathered at Amy’s parents’ home in Westminster, CO to help Amy celebrate her Co-membership in the Loretto Community. Amy volunteered with Jeannine Gramick, SL, and Frank DeBernardo at New Ways Ministry in Washington DC in 2001-2. During this time Amy lived with Maureen Fiedler,SL. Amy is the first former Loretto Volunteer to join the Loretto Community as a Co-member.

Amy chose Edwina Gateley’s poem “Called to Become” as the theme of her Co-membership celebration. After Jeannine read this poem, Amy shared with those gathered how she had been called to become a co-member—from her college days at the University of Portland, to a summer internship with New Ways Ministry, followed by a year there as a Loretto Volunteer, playing football with the DC Divas, and onto Casa de Amigas with Sandy Ardoyno, SL, and then two years with the L’Arche Community in Mobile, and finally back to Denver and the Loretto Community there.
